A "heart and home" for NZ business in Shanghai

China General Interest

For New Zealand companies expanding or beginning their business in China, there is now an exclusive, convenient, New Zealand-branded facility in Shanghai to support your presence in China.

New Zealand Central, NZTE’s concept centre in Shanghai, was officially opened by Prime Minister John Key in April. Over 180 guests attended the New Zealand themed cocktail function, including Chinese dignitaries from Shanghai and Beijing, political and trade contacts and a high level business delegation travelling with the Prime Minister including NZTE’s CEO Tim Gibson and representatives from Air New Zealand, Fonterra, Solid Energy, Glidepath, Fomana Capital, Zespri and Beca.

The Prime Minister’s core message to the New Zealand business community was that while the New Zealand-China Free Trade Agreement created opportunities, these must now be converted into long term business success.

New Zealand Central is intended to help businesses make the most of the FTA by providing a facility that would help raise and sharpen New Zealand’s profile. It is a high quality, professional venue for functions, promotions and events that enables users to leverage off the New Zealand brand to promote their own products and services.

Designed as a “heart and home” for New Zealand business in Shanghai, it is located in the prestigious district of Xintiandi, and shows New Zealand as not just clean and green, but also smart, innovative and creative.

Since its soft opening in February, New Zealand Central has hosted over 1000 visitors and 18 events supporting New Zealand business growth with China. The Centre is suitable for a range of formal and informal events and meetings, temporary product displays; VIP and media functions; chef demonstrations; food and beverage promotions, product launches and training etc.

New Zealand Central facilities include meeting and event space, hot desks, a business lounge, chef demonstration kitchen, and outdoor terrace garden. It also has six hot desks; wifi access throughout, and access to nearby world class serviced office facilities at a discount.
