NICK NOBILO IN CHINA LUNCH DATE WITH ICONIC WINE PIONEER

05 Aug 2010

Nick Nobilo, pioneer New Zealand winemaker and consistent advocate at the quality end of the market, has recently broken through with a major order to supply Vinoptima Gewurztraminer to the Hainan Island resort in China.

Our sales of wine to China have increased substantially recently as winemakers have sought markets for the current level of production and as the size of that potentially huge market rapidly grows.

But China has for us been a predominantly red wine market and returns have often been at the lower end of the range of market prices.

•    How has Nobilo been able to enter at the top end?

•    How well are we marketing wine in China?

•    What possibilities does the massive Hainan Island resort project offer?

•    How do you establish good long term relationships with the Chinese?

Nick will offer views on the these issues at a members’ networking lunch:

On: Thursday 5 August 2010

At: Grand Harbour Restaurant, Cnr Pakenham / Customs St West, Viaduct, Auckland

Time: Register at 12.15 for 12.30 lunch and presentation

RSVP: By Tuesday 3 August by clicking here

Chinese/Maori Crossovers - Mawhitiwhiti

24 Aug 2010 - 31 Aug 2010

http://www.pihirau.co.nz

These seminars look at a range of carefully selected material culture from both the neolithic Chinese period (relative to departure of original ancestors from Taiwanese, Vietnamese areas through south east Asian region) and the trail left by our Austronesian speaking ancestors into the Pacific and more recently Aotearoa. No attempt is being made to specifically tie together taonga ‘treasures’ from both cultures. However, there are affinities which point to deeper strands of philosophical, spiritual and aesthetic connection between Pacific and Asian peoples. Mawhitiwhiti also explores the presence of artists who have a dual heritage of Maori Chinese culture creating some common threads of connection.

Please find attached a press release with full details.
