SHANGHAI EXPO TEAM INVITES YOU TO DINNERA delegation from Shanghai is in Auckland early next month to promote the 2010 Expo, already the subject of much coverage and support by NZCTA (see below). Our good friends at China Travel Service, the officially appointed travel agents, are arranging a grand dinner with plenty of entertainment at which the Expo will be featured. CTS cordially invites NZCTA members to attend the dinner on Friday 4 December. For full details and to register with CTS please click here. Please note you must register direct with CTS not NZCTA and if you nominate you wish to be with NZCTA, seating will as far as possible be arranged with other members. NZCTA plans “heady” Mission to Expo September 2010After recent discussions with the Government organisers of the NZ participation at Shanghai Expo, NZCTA is satisfied that key export sectors are being covered with Ministerial Missions and that regional interests are being looked after by enthusiastic local organisations. So NZCTA is planning an Expo initiative, which will avoid clashing with mainstream export and local initiatives but which will add full value to the overall effort to gain maximum leverage from the substantial NZ investment in it. We are now seeking expressions of interest from entrepreneurs, thought provokers and creators, who would be attracted by the prospect of taking in the Expo together with visits and networking opportunities both in Shanghai and other Chinese business centres. We would undertake to provide, probably in late September 2010, an eclectic programme and itinerary designed to assist you indentifying new areas in which to engage with China. To register a preliminary and non-obligatory expression of interest and to be added to a specific mailing list, email: director@nzcta.co.nz New Executive team to look after your interestsLast week’s AGM was followed by a highly enjoyable lunch at the Auckland Club attended by 80 members and guests, where MFAT's China Desk head, Grahame Morton made an informative and intelligent assessment of China’s recent progress on the World stage and its approach to global affairs. There will be several new faces on the Executive this year as a result of the election process and long-time Executive member, Rob Jeffrey, upon announcing his retirement, received a well merited elevation to life membership.
