China to Restrict F Visas for 60th Anniversary

News

SHANGHAI, Apr. 22 - In preparation for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, there has been talk that the government may restrict F visas beginning this month.

The preparations for a large national celebration of the October 1, 1949 founding are already underway and should Beijing elect to tighten security prior to the event, visa restrictions similar to the ones employed during the months before the Beijing Olympics may be enforced.

A six month F visa with a maximum of two entries with multi-entries or one year F visa is no longer possible, according to the travel agency, Meishing Consultancy Services. Moreover, six month visas will only be made valid until September.

It is then advised that visitors to China apply for an L or F visa good for 30 days instead then reapply for the longer F visa when the ceremony is over.
